Dwab Blind School
Development and Welfare Association of the Blind(DWAB) is one of the best institutions providing services to visually challenged Kinds in Andhra Pradesh. This organization has been successfully endeavoring to bring the blind children from different places with their sighted counterparts in all walks of life by encouraging the blind children to participate in activities of education,sports,cultural activities and social gatherings. Surdas bhavan is the school run by DWAB organization, there are more than 140 visually challenged kids in this school. DWAB provides free education and boarding facilities to visually challenged kids (who are totally blind or partially blind). They are running a school for the blind from class 1st to class 10th and 100% results at class 7th and class 10th for past five years. Government of Andhra Pradesh is supporting each student with Rs.500 per month. The Surdas Bhavan is a three stored full fledged functioning school which has basic infrastructure but still they don’t have labs and auditorium. Asha Toledo is planing to build auditorium on the top of the building. This new auditorium is used for providing new labs (science lab) and classes like music and yoga for the kids. This place can also be used for the daily assembly sessions.
